Sensaphone Phasing Out CELL682 Environmental Monitoring System

CELL682

The Sensaphone CELL682 has been a powerful alarm, control and environmental monitoring system since its inception in November 2010. But like all good things, its time has come to an end – the CELL682 will only be available until the end of 2017.

The reason for discontinuing the CELL682 system is that its internal 3G cellular modem can't be updated to 4G/LTE. That is a problem since cellular service providers AT&T and Verizon announced they will no longer support the 3G network.

The good news is that we’ve developed an upgraded replacement! The Sentinel with Cellular Modem offers many of the same features and specifications as the CELL682, with improvements that make it even more user-friendly. It provides a supervised internet or cellular connection, an app and an external antenna standard.

And, just like the CELL682, the Sentinel with Cellular Modem is a great environmental monitoring system for locations with no access to a landline or internet connection.

Here's a quick comparison of the two models:

The Sentinel offers one relay output, and the Sentinel Pro offers two. Two relay outputs.
Offers a supervised internet or cellular connection. If its connection to the cloud is lost, users receive an alarm. If cellular or internet connection is lost, no alarm is sent. Users notice only if they check in online.

Users can check current conditions via the Sensaphone iPhone or Android app. No corresponding app.
User interface allows more flexibility in managing multiple devices from one login, creating different levels of user access and scheduling alarm deliveries. Web-based control platform www.cell682.com allows management of only one device per login.
Sends alarms via a voice telephone call, SMS text message, or email. Sends alarms via a voice telephone call, SMS text message, or email.

Includes an external antenna standard, which allows the device to be placed inside metal cabinets or buildings because the antenna can be run outside of the building or box. No external antenna standard.

Although the CELL682 monitoring system won't be available for sale after 2017, all of the devices in the field will continue to work as long as carrier support is available. CELL682 users will continue to have access to full customer and tech support.
